The History of Oasis Christian Center

Oasis Christian Center's Heritage

Hawaii is a very strategic place in the world spiritually as well as militarily.  The island of Oahu (Which means "The Gathering Place") is a melting pot of many cultures.  Hawaii is a cultural crossroads for a multitude of people, much like Jerusalem, Ephesis, and Corinth must have been in the first century.

Realizing the significance of the Hawaiian Islands as being a connecting point between the mainland U.S. and the Asian Countries, Abbot Loop Christian Center sent a team from Alaska to Hawaii led by Pastor Gary Kutil in 1987.

From 1987 to 1999 Pastor Gary Kutil served faithfully as the Senior Pastor of what was then Oahu Christian Center.  He and his wife Linda served faithfully in building this congregation in Hawaii.  Pastor Gary was a leader not only of this local church, but also in the State of Hawaii.  He was a key component in "March For Jesus" and was active in speaking before legislative committees.

In 1999, the "baton" of Senior Pastor was passed to Archibald Campbell.  Pastor Archibald and his wife Betsy had a place in their heart for the institution of marriage, for the children, and families.  Under his leadership, Oahu Christian Center became Oasis Christian Center and the Lord led the church to begin meeting in homes.  At it's height, there were two regional home churches meeting on Sunday mornings and one regional home church which met on Friday nights.  The congregation met once a month for a large group celebration and as regional home churches the rest of the month.  In 2006, Pastor Archibald Campbell and his family moved back to Alaska where he is serving as the Family Pastor at Anchorage City Church.

In January 2006, Pastor Kyle Ishizaka has taken the reigns of Oasis Christian Center.  He believed the Lord to be leading this congregation back to meeting corporately in large groups weekly on Sunday mornings.  The importance of small home groups is still a priority.  Two home groups meet weekly.  One on Wednesday night and another on Thursday night.  Home groups meet for equipping, building relationships, and staying accountable to the Lord and each other.

The congregation currently meets every Sunday at 10:30 am. at Hoala Schools in Wahiawa, Oahu.  For more information, please call (808) 754-0484.

The rich heritage from Alaska is perpetuated through Oasis Christian Center.
